Footage of C&O 1601’s move to Michigan?
Does anyone know if theres is ANY video footage or pictures of the Chesapeake and Ohio H8 Allegheny steam Locomotive #1601 when it ran itself to Dearborne Michigan where it is now?
This locomotive is currently on display at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn. You can try to contact them to see if they have anything, but chances are, they don’t. If they did, you’d probably be able to view a bootleg copy of it on youtube or some other video portal. There is not much C&O material on the market, and what is available is hard to come by. I believe there is some footage on DVD/VHS called Articulateds in Appalacia which covers B&O Yellowstones, C&O Alleghenys and N&W As and Ys. Also other steam mixed in. There’s about a 10 minute section on the Alleghenys with some mainline running. The video is from Sunday River. I was fortunate enough to see the 1604 at the B&O museum in Baltimore…what an impressive machine. Good Luck in your search!
